Tragedy Strikes Riabai Village as Young Couple Found Dead Under Mysterious Circumstances

 A somber mood has engulfed Riabai village in Kiambu County after the shocking discovery of a young couple found dead in their home under unclear circumstances.

According to police reports, the incident was reported at around 5 p.m. yesterday. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found the lifeless body of Josphine Gathoni lying on the bed, while her partner, John Kariithi, was discovered hanging from the ceiling.


Kiambu OCPD Francis Njomo confirmed the incident and stated that investigations are underway to establish what transpired.


Family members expressed disbelief over the tragedy. Peter Ndung’u, brother to the deceased man, revealed that the couple had lived together as husband and wife for two years without any known conflicts or domestic issues.


Meanwhile, Monica Wanjiku, mother to Josphine Gathoni, urged young couples to seek guidance and counseling whenever they face challenges in their relationships. She emphasized that open communication and involving elders could help prevent such heartbreaking incidents.


The two bodies have been taken to the Kiambu Mortuary for postmortem examinations as investigations continue.


This tragedy adds to the rising cases of domestic-related deaths in the country, raising concerns about mental health and relationship counseling among young couples.

POLICE SEIZE BHANG WORTH SH10 MILLION IN THIKA

Police in Thika have intercepted 12 sacks of bhang with a street value of approximately Sh10 million, arresting two suspects and impounding a Toyota TX Prado believed to have been used in transporting the drugs. Thika West Sub-County Police Commander, Lawrence Muchangi, confirmed the incident, saying the suspects were nabbed during a routine patrol in the Kimuchu area, Kamenu Ward. “Our officers, who were on patrol, noticed a vehicle parked suspiciously by the roadside. When they approached, some of the occupants fled the scene. Luckily, we managed to arrest two suspects, and upon inspection, we discovered 12 sacks of bhang hidden inside the Prado,” said Mr. Muchangi. Kiambu Traders Accuse County Askaris of Harassment, Bribery & Property Theft
