Jitume ICT Hub Launched in Ndumberi to Empower Youth with Digital Skills

Kiambu Sub-County Member of Parliament Machua Waithaka has officially launched the Jitume ICT Hub program, a free digital training initiative designed to equip young people with vital skills for the modern job market.

Speaking during the launch in Ndumberi, Waithaka revealed that at least 200 youths have already enrolled in the three-month program. The training will cover web development, virtual assistance, transcription, content creation, academic writing, entrepreneurship, forex trading, and basic computer packages.

“We want to prepare our young people for the golden opportunities in the digital world,” said the MP. “Technology is the future, and with these skills, our youth can access jobs and even create employment from the comfort of their homes.”

Some of the beneficiaries expressed optimism, saying the program has given them new hope.

“Before this, many of us had nothing meaningful to do, and it was easy to get into drugs or crime. Now we have a chance to build our futures,” said James Kariuki, one of the participants.

The Area Assistant County Commissioner echoed the MP’s sentiments, urging more young people to seize the opportunity.

“Many cases of hopelessness and even suicide are linked to lack of opportunities. This program is a lifeline that can help transform lives,” he noted.

Organizers of the program emphasized that as companies continue to embrace digital platforms, such initiatives will play a crucial role in creating a generation of self-reliant, tech-savvy workers.

Youths at the Ndumberi ICT Hub are taken through various courses on how to earn online, providing alternative job creation opportunities for young people across the country.

“In the near future, most jobs will be online, and our youth will greatly benefit by working from home and earning a living digitally,” said Peter Muchendu, Director at Konza Technopolis.

The Ndumberi Jitume ICT Hub is part of a wider effort to tackle youth unemployment and nurture innovation in the digital economy.
